Where Gardens at Riverside Is Located (and why couples love it)
Located just outside of Albany, Gardens at Riverside is a venue that surprises you in the best way. It’s close enough to Eugene, Corvallis, Salem and Portland to make travel easy for guests, but once you’re there it feels removed from the noise and rush of everyday life.
What I love most is how naturally everything flows together. The ceremony space sits right along the water, the gardens wrap around the property with paths and greenery that feel organic instead of overly manicured, and the indoor reception space connects seamlessly so the entire day feels cohesive rather than broken up into separate locations.
We all know in Oregon, having a beautiful indoor option is everything.
You can plan an outdoor ceremony without holding your breath over the forecast. You can move inside for dinner and dancing without sacrificing the aesthetic you worked so hard to create. They have a to die for covered patio as well. Between the water, the gardens, and the modern indoor space, it truly is a venue you can make your own.
Ranging from editorial and modern, softly romantic, or somewhere in between, Gardens at Riverside is a stunning blank canvas that adapts to your style instead of forcing you into one.
The riverside ceremony space and indoor reception space
One of my favorite parts of Gardens at Riverside, and one of the main factors that made me fall in love with this venue, is how the ceremony space sits right along the water. With the river running beside you and gardens surrounding the space, it gives you a beautiful outdoor ceremony setting that still feels clean, open, and easy to personalize.
It’s naturally beautiful without being distracting, which means your design choices actually stand out. Whether you’re envisioning something modern and minimal, sculptural and editorial, or layered with softer garden florals, the space supports it instead of competing with it.
There’s enough room for guests to feel comfortable, enough depth in the background for photos to feel dimensional, and enough flexibility to make it truly your own.
One of the biggest things that sets Gardens at Riverside apart from so many outdoor venues in Oregon is that the indoor reception space actually feels like part of the venue, not a compromise. It’s bright, open, and clean in a way that still feels warm and intentional, with stunning arched windows that flood the room with natural light and keep everything visually connected to the gardens outside. The neutral design makes it easy to style without overpowering the space, which I deeply appreciate as a photographer.
And practically speaking, it takes so much stress off the day.
You can plan an outdoor ceremony without constantly watching the weather forecast. If rain shows up, the flow of the day still feels seamless. Guests aren’t shuffled into a dark room that kills the vibe. The celebration just continues in a space that feels just as elevated as everything outside.
From a photography standpoint, the light stays soft, the backgrounds stay clean, and the room photographs beautifully from every angle.
It’s one of those rare indoor options that doesn’t take away from the overall aesthetic of the wedding. It enhances it.
The gardens and your photos
This is where Gardens at Riverside really becomes something special.
The gardens wrap around the property in a way that gives you constant movement and variety throughout the day. Curving paths, layered greenery, open lawn areas, and tucked-away corners that feel intimate without being hidden.
From a photography perspective, it’s a dream.
You’re never stuck in one spot. We can wander, follow the light, and create moments that feel natural instead of rushed. And for couples, it means your gallery doesn’t feel repetitive. It gives you romantic garden portraits, editorial-feeling wide shots, soft candid moments between trees, and clean modern frames with natural textures behind you.
Every part of the venue adds something different, which is a huge reason weddings here feel so personal and visually distinct.
Why Gardens at Riverside works so beautifully for modern & editorial weddings
What makes this venue special isn’t just that it’s beautiful. It’s how clean and flexible the space is.
The backdrops are simple without feeling plain. The greenery feels intentional without overwhelming the design. Everything allows your vision to stand out instead of competing for attention.
Modern details feel elevated here, while the gardens add warmth and texture so nothing feels cold or sterile.
It’s that balance between intentional design and natural beauty that makes weddings here feel refined but still romantic.
Styled shoot inspiration with the Amaretto Collective
This styled shoot was created with the Amaretto Collective, a collaboration between Jessi Ellen Photo, Wrong Number Floral, and Birdie June Events. We know having the right team behind your wedding day makes the biggest difference in your ability to be present and just enjoy the day you worked so hard for. We created a collective of like minded vendors who value creativity, exceptional service and inclusivity to serve our couples.
When your vendor team truly clicks, the design feels more cohesive, decisions come easier, and the entire experience flows naturally. We leaned into an editorial direction with velvet linens, sculptural florals, soft draping by the water, and intentional negative space. Then we challenged tradition with silver platters of what we lovingly call “girl dinner” featuring fries, olives, and cherries.
It was playful, elevated, and personal.
This shoot was a reminder of how powerful the right vendor team can be when creativity and collaboration lead the way.
